Southeast sunset

Okey, guys, I posted some pictures yesterday of the sunset. But hey, the picture was taken in a southeast direction. What happened!? What is the sky doing? any suggestions? Some kind of reflection I would guess, but what about the dark feather shaped stripes?!

Disko, I'm back, Dancing with ya!

Everything seems a little bit nicer on Disko this time. People in the village are happier and the atmosphere is more relaxed, especially at the station. Right now we are only four persons at the station, and I know all of them. Instead of sleeping in boxes (yes, we did that last time I was here) we now sleep in real rooms, with two beds in each. It is very nice. everything is quiet and, yes, things are just better. I arrived a few hour earlier than planned. Very nice, except that no one came to pick me up on the pier, so I had to walk to the station with a LOT of luggage. No worries though, I have just been sitting still the last couple of days, so the walk was actually quite nice! At the station I met Frannie, who had lunch at that time. I had a cup of coffee and then I installed my self in my room.

My plan is to measure BVOC on the dry site tomorrow. The weather forecast predict nice weather, lets hope for that!

It is rather cold, so I should have had a cap on..
but, anyway the Icelandic shirt and long-johns are on!
The weird cemetary in Aasiaat
It was a bumpy trip from Aasiaat to Disko...
But fast. instead of three hour, it was only 1 h and 45 min.
Someone want to have a green banana?!
The more organized, still weird, and smelly, cemetary in Quequertarsuaq, Disko Island.
Rest with a nice view!

In Copenhagen

I know! i haven't been very good at publish here the last couples of weeks. It is simply because I have prepared data from Disko and Zackenberg, and that is not very interesting to write about... I'm going back to Disko on Tuesday morning. So, tomorrow I'll pick up tubes, both ours and from Christian (for VOX measurement) and I also have to pack and figure out how I'll get to the airport... I'll update and post on the blog during my stay on Disko Island. So, you'll hear from me soon enough! Cheers

...Summer continues in Denmark. Today I visited the museum for modern art, Lousiana.

The botanical garden, lab-work and doing nothing

It has started to feel a little bit better to be back in civilization. Lars came here and we have been in the botanical garden, which is very beautiful, we've, of course, been at the uni and also just relaxed at home. It is nice to be in a relatively warm area with summer. Tonight we went to the beach for a swim in the ocean. Love it! This evening is also the evening when Michelle comes back to Copenhagen from Disko. She has been there way to long now and I miss her. So, I hope I'll see her tomorrow to hear some news from Disko but also some non work related stories. =)

Zackenberg 2013

I'm back in copenhagen after 3 weeks of fieldwork in Zackenberg. And I brought 229 tubes to Zackenberg, and Sarah left one, so it turned out fine. Wow, Zackenberg research station is amazing. I feel a bit sad that I won't go there next year. The work went well, both BVOC sampling and CO2 flux measurements, thanks to Lars Holst Hansen. We had very nice weather almost every day of my stay. However, everything was very dry and I think that some plants do suffer... The everyday life on the station is also very good, with no internet or mobile phone people do get a bit more social and the people that were there were very nice and I'll miss many of them! well, I'll just upload some pictures that tells more than what I'm able to write. So, enjoy!

Three weeks in Zackenberg feels like a very long time, but at the same time as if time goes on very fast. Sometimes it feels like a small society were everyone finds there role and contribute in there own way to an amazing atmosphere. Thanks to all for a pleasant time in North East Greenland. Cheers!
