I'm done with fieldwork, for this year

Today was my last day in field. I measured BVOC and VOX at the eddy tower site. It was a bit chilly with below zero this morning but efter some hours the temp incresed to atleast 5...  It feels both very nice to be done and at the same time a bit sad. It's so nice to do fieldwork when your life just circles around what you are doing at exactly that moment. It is kind of meditative... Now I have a lot of packing to do. I have two days and I also have to go to the snow fence again to get a soil core for a PhD at Cenperm. So, I'll not be bored. On sunday we are going to Aasiaat, and on monday morning are we flying from there to Copenhagen. I do not look forward to the trip. It is long and will be very heavy with too much luggage... So long!

Rainy day that turned out to be very nice

Today I went out to the snowfence. The, so called, dry site. Not very dry recently I must say. Today it seemed like that the weather would be quite okey. However, heavy rain came seconds after that the first measurements started. It continued until one minute before the last measurements were done. So everything, including me, was very wet. No pictures to show, because it was simply to wet. So just when I was done with the fieldwork for today the sun worked its way through the clouds and a blue sky appeared, out of nowhere it seemed. So, I did some meta data collection while my things, my instruments and my self dried a bit. Then, I walk to the station.

Some few hours later it looked like this:

Wanna play football?!

I wonder where those trees came from, I haven't seen any around...

This is how we want it to be!

BVOC measurements on the dry snow fence site

I can't stop taking photos. It is so beautiful with all the colors and it is just so nice to be out there.

Sunglasses on!

note: there is a boat to the left of the iceberg, just to see the size of it...

Walk in Qeqertarsuaq

We went for a walk to town. We say dogs in different sizes, a dump, some weird houses and some beautiful autumn colors!
